My Shopping list for the week of 2/3/2013

I hope everyone had fun shopping last week. I didn't get to go out, however I do plan on shopping this week. You will find that I only "Grocery shop" about once every 10 days. This is because for one I buy a lot when I go out, 2) I try not to go out every day like I used to (gas got pretty expensive) and 3 I have a job where I go to many grocery stores throughout the week, so, I pick up small deals at those times as well as anything my family may be out of.

I find that I may not get a;ll the great deals doing it this way, but it is much less stressful and I actually save more money by not going shopping every time I see a great deal. Going to a store every day for just a couple items uses a bunch of gas and it is true that the more often you go into a store the more likely you are to make impulse purchases that may not be such a good deal.

This week I decided to add a couple things:

1) Price matching:

Price matching is my favorite part about shopping at Walmart. In my list you will see I have my deals separated by stores. Before all but one I have an "@" that means that these are the prices at that store. When price matching you must make sure you are buying the exact size and flavor indicated in the store's ad that you are matching from. It is always advised to look at the store;'s ad so you can see what the product looks like, the flavors, and the sizes of the item.

You do not have to bring the ad to Walmart with you to get the matching price, however, it is better if you do so you can have a reference and have an easier time finding the correct item. Also, if the cashier is not sure about the match they must call up a manager or go get a copy of the store's ad at customer service. Having the ad handy will save you from long waits at the register and will keep the customers behind you from getting upset :P

See Walmart's price matching policy here

***If you  live out of the DFW area you need to look up any of the prices I quote at your local stores before doing this! Your store may not have the same sale items at the same prices as mine.***

I typically like to keep my price matches at the end of my transaction and separate my price matches from the rest of my order with a separator to keep items from getting slipping past the register at the Walmart price without you noticing, and warn the cashier that there will be price matches. This makes the whole transaction run much smoother. You can still have the price matches rung up together with the rest of the order, this just lets everyone get prepared for your price matches and makes for a better check out.

2) A trip to Dollar Tree:

You will notice the last store is a Dollar Tree and it does not have an "@" symbol before it. This is because I do not plan to price match these items at Walmart. These prices are not all in the Dollar Tree ad, you may only price match the ADVERTISED price.

See Walmart's price matching policy here

Dollar tree does accept coupons now, for those of you who didn't know. However, I have found that many Dollar Tree employees do not yet know the whole coupon policy. Be sure to print this out and take it with you:

Dollar Tree Coupon Policy

A couple key points are:

They only accept 2 of the same internet coupons, and they will accept coupons that are over a dollar, but it will be adjusted down.

So, with out further ado, here is my list for this week. You will see some items from last week, this is because I have still not bought them.
